GB House is a project inspired by the desire for unity between interior and exterior space and the idea that architecture is a prism through which we perceive nature and the surrounding world. The surrounding landscape is conceived as an integral part of the sense of space and atmosphere. The range of textures and colors incorporated in the interior relies on simplicity and natural materials, so that minimalism is not a desired effect, but rather the result of clear and timeless vision beyond the pursuit of fleeting modern trends.
The main guiding principle in the design process has been the respect for the natural form of materials, for their properties, and even for their imperfections. The use of ancient crafts such as rattan stretching, wall finishing with natural lime plaster, use of furniture textures from hand-hewn wooden panels, and the application of techniques for laying Moroccan tadelakt have been reinterpreted into a modern home.
